Working From One Vacation To The Next
I always love seeing people's reactions when walking past my desk at work.
"Didn't you just get back from a trip?" is the most common question I'm asked.
I'd say, "Why, yes I did!"
It's fun to come in each morning, and erase one of the numbers and write the next one lower. It's fun to see those numbers go down, slowly but surely. It's one of those indicators that time is on your side, doing its job. It keeps going down to eventually get you to where you need to be: On Vacation!
From my interactions with other cruise enthusiasts, it seems like the whole "counting down" thing is fairly common. I, for one, love knowing that I have something great coming in the future that I have to look forward to, instead of just working day in and day out. We all get our motivation from different sources; for me, this is definitely one of them.
Another source of motivation is that I want to sail on as many Royal Caribbean ships as I can! I've started out on Legend of the Seas (it was a long time ago, but it counts!), Freedom of the Seas, and just recently Majesty of the Seas. 3 down, 22 to go. I'd love to have Royal Caribbean ship magnets going all the way to the floor on my cube wall at work!
I realize this may or may not happen, since ships come and go from the fleet, but nothing wrong with having goals. This will also get me traveling all over, since not all ships sail from Florida or to the Caribbean.
Alaska, Asia, Australia, Southern Pacfic, The Mediterranean... I've got lots of different places to see, and I figure now's as good a time as any to do it.
